Axiad Conductor Named a Finalist
We are thrilled to highlight that Axiad Conductor is a finalist in the “Best Authentication Technology” category for the prestigious SC Awards! In its 28th year, the SC Awards is SC Media’s award program that spotlights the most impactful innovations shaping the future of digital cybersecurity. The program serves as a bellwether for cybersecurity industry leaders and their accomplishments by highlighting products, services, and individuals for their prestige and excellence.
This year’s award entries were evaluated across 33 specialty categories by a distinguished panel of judges, comprised of cybersecurity professionals, industry leaders, and members of the CyberRisk Alliance CISO community, representing sectors such as healthcare, financial services, education, and technology.
Let’s take closer look at Axiad Conductor, how it works, and the benefits it provides to our customers across a variety of verticals. But first, let’s step back and address the segment of the market the product addresses and why it’s so critical in today’s cybersecurity environment.
The Evolution of Identity Security – from IAM to ICAM
Identity and Access Management (IAM) is the oldest and most foundational discipline in cybersecurity… and the most broken. It needs a new center of gravity, away from “knowledge factors” like passwords and towards “possession factors” like robust digital credentials and hardware-based authenticators. Authentication processes in finance, insurance, government, and technology organizations need strong, phishing-resistant authentication based on passwordless credentials like FIDO2 passkeys or X.509 certificates.
But to keep up with this shift, IAM teams must become “ICAM” experts, designing and managing highly scalable Identity Credential and Access Management systems. ICAM systems rely on enterprise-ready credential management solutions to orchestrate end-to-end lifecycles of identity credentials from issuance through updates and revocation. These solutions need to work across heterogeneous platforms, operating systems, and devices, managing thousands of credentials for humans and machines daily. Axiad Conductor is a credential management system that provides these abilities and empowers this shift.
About Axiad Conductor – Advanced Credential Management for the Modern Enterprise
Axiad Conductor is an updated version of Axiad’s original credential management solution – the on-prem “CMS” and SaaS-based “Axiad Cloud” – that has been reengineered to support the latest in strong credentials and SaaS delivery technologies.
Knowledge factors have failed spectacularly. 2024’s RockYou2024 wrote the epitaph for passwords, with 10 billion records compromised. Identity teams need to rapidly deploy updated IAM systems that leverage certificate-based authentication solutions – like Axiad Conductor – to deliver strong, SaaS-based phishing-resistant authentication. This requires innovations in manageability, usability, and interoperability:
- Manageability: automation for all phases of credential management, from issuance to revocation. Centralized control enables 10x faster deployment of hardware authenticators while decreasing administrative workloads.
- Usability: end user features like MyCircle for PKI credential resets, and Airlock to eliminate temporary passwords, combine to empower self-service and automation.
- Interoperability: supports all OS platforms; IAM vendors like Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Ping Identity, and more; hardware authenticators like Yubico, IDEMIA, Thales, and Feitian; and multiple IGA, PAM, and IDP solutions.
With ICAM as the new benchmark for authentication architectures, a reliable and scalable credential management system – like Axiad Conductor – is a must-have resource.
In fact, as part of a continuing evolution, Axiad Conductor enjoys a strong customer list from security-conscious verticals that recognize the need for a credential management system, including health insurance, health care, finance, technology, government, oil and gas and transportation.
What’s in Store for Axiad Conductor
Axiad Conductor has an aggressive roadmap focused on the three key value drivers referenced earlier that we’re eager to preview: manageability, usability, and interoperability.
- Manageability: ICAM administrators need new ways to provide centralized, consistent control over credentials that were originally designed for 1:1 consumer usage. FIDO is an example: designed as a consumer-first technology, FIDO lacks some tools for distribution and control. We are working with the FIDO Alliance to perfect and deploy “FIDO on Behalf” functionality that allows ICAM administrators to deploy passkeys en masse and with specific configurations for renewal and update.
- Usability: Forthcoming features will make it easier for end users to update FIDO2 credentials and use them in different configurations, whether device-bound or distributed.
- Interoperability: Solutions that rely on PKI are dependent on being able to reliably interwork with other solutions and providers. We continually refine our integrations with Venafi, Microsoft, Yubico, IDEMIA, Thales, and other providers in the identity ecosystem.
We will keep you apprised of more great things to come with Axiad Conductor as well as the ways it can help your organization take control of identity securely, efficiently and at scale – so stay tuned! In the meantime, if you’re interested in learning more about our solutions, contact us.
